Policymakers are making decisions every day at the local, state and national level that affect your business., but for those not familiar, the term government relations can seem like a foreign concept. This course highlights the need for advocacy at all levels of government and gives actionable steps for achieving your policy goals. From building coalitions to interacting with policy makers to promoting your message with the media, this course provides the basics of government relations, why it matters to you, and how you can participate in the process to achieve policy goals that mean your businesses and the industry grow and thrive.

1. Understand the role of government relations in relation to advocacy.
2. Evaluate the different types of coalitions, identify your role and determine how you can use them to benefit your overall policy goals. (Examples provided.)
3. Determine best paths of promotion for your policy goals and how to highlight your efforts and promote message to public through media outreach.
